I am trying to pace myself right now, as I am approaching my 3,000th post and have not decided whether to get soppy like JimmyPop or go one-liner simple like Andysat. Thing is, this place is great for so much more than swapping Z4 stories, talking mods or asking Stoopid questions - it's like a virtual pub with all your mates in it waiting to have a laugh, solve the world's problems and utterly take the pi$$ at the slightest hint of an opportunity. Which brings me to this post which is, as the title says, sharing a little pain...
Remember how I just spent most of £800 on my car, and now have to get an oil leak fixed on SWMBOs Honda ? So you'd think, it's a 2003 Honda Accord, 106k miles, never broke except things that wear out like battery, starter motor, water pump - must be a seal gone, or a perished rubber hose... Booked in for Tuesday, the leak is small but keeping the oil topped up, not driving it too much. Then today it dumps the whole litre of oil I put in it last night on the driveway after SWMBO got back from town. Not great. Called Green Flag, chap came out, had a poke and reckons it is coming from the oil filter, but can't see where. Gets his extendable mirror out, looks down the back of the engine block... Finds what looks like three cracks in the block. I kid you not - he showed me one, looks like a crack to me
Called up the guys who did my car (where it is booked in anyway) and they said to have it recovered to them and they will look at it Saturday morning instead of Tuesday - as an aside, I am quite impressed. Anyway, the mechanic was surprised, sceptical of the diagnosis but said it may be possible to fix even if it is cracked... I'd love to think you can do the equivelant of radwelding it, but is this true ?
I am very nervous - if the car is buggered I won't get any insurance payment, and of course there is no warranty... I wonder if anything else can go wrong this month
Thanks for reading - I feel better now. Well, a little. Hopefully I'll get a chance to post something other than bloody nightmares in the near future, preferably accompanied by some nice new pics of my car. Mission for the weekend
