Hi All,
Whilst changing over to Vredestein Sessantas at the weekend, the tyre guys suggested refurbing the alloys to a smoke chrome finish.
Does anyone have photos of a facelift Saphirre black Z4 Roadster with 18" Shadow Chrome 135 M style wheels ?
The change to Non R-Flats is quite amazing. No more 'death grip' driving on our local roads !
Thanks

Not a fan at all personally, although I know some people love the effect. Why pay all that money to have your wheels look permanently dirty?

There's a thread on them here: http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=27488&view=previous

Here's a quick photoshop for you...

Thanks Hype, for the fast info and photoshop picture.
I take your point about looking dirty all the time, although they do you rather classy.
Still undecided.
Thanks

Shadow Chrome seems to elicit a love or hate response. I've done it for my wheels on Maldives blue: http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=31140
To say I'm happy with the result is a gross understatement. It looks fantastic, hides the brake dust really well and IMO doesn't look "dirty" at all.

Like the look on your Maldives Blue Mangozac, looks very nice indeed. I am still unsure, I just don't know if it will be too dark with the black. The problem is that the wheels could do with a refurb, and I can get the shadow chrome finish for a very similar price to the original silver. If there was a greater price difference it would be an easy decision.

Thanks mate. I know what you mean about it being too dark - I would be unsure on black also. The shade of the shadow chrome really does vary wildly throughout the day depending on so many factors! It used to be really expensive but I only paid $5.00 more per wheel for the SC finish.

That does rather look quite tasty JasonLHall, and I wish my garage was that size ! - Thanks for the photo
I also have been offered a good deal as Mangozac - the difference between the standard and shadow chrome finish for me is only £5.00 per wheel.
On another tack, (probably due to my age), I am still wowed by the fact that I can discuss issues with fellow Z owners from both the States, and ' Down Under".

Looking at JasonLHall's photo I'd say go for it. The Shadow Chrome makes the 135 wheels look ultra modern, and during the day at least it will look light enough to contrast with the black Zed.

Despite having almost grown up with the internet and being used to chatting (both on forums and by IM and voice) with internet fronds from across the globe, I will admit that I too sometimes find it marvellous ;)
