several problems

My car is just over two years old and have just had the cooling fan replaced and the wiring loom and sensors for the roof have also just been replaced. Thought it was the roof motor, but that apparently that is fine, not had any roof down action through the nicest days we have had in the UK . Definetly taking out the warranty having seen bill for these two things, thank goodness i am under warranty. Are these things that usually go wrong?

The thing that is not under warranty is the glove box. It has completely fallen off. BMW quoted £180 to fix/replace it :x It must come off as all the fuses are under there and the spare fuses seem to be on the back (cannot lay my hand on the manual at the minute). There are two little rubber bits at the back which seem to have snapped. I do not want to fork out that sort off money for the glove box, so need to fix myself. Anyone help ?

I can - I had to fix mine previously, but not tonight, if it can wait until Saturday, maybe someone else will help in the meantime. The part is under a quid if it's the same as mine.

No panic for the answers , however, not sure how i am going to live without ALL that storage it offers  it so damn small. Happy to drive around without for now. I will take some pics tomorrow, then we can check if it the same problem. Sure it is going to cheaper than the £180, presume they where going to replace the whole lot, but even so that is silly money.

Inuit, my car is just three years old in a week or so and last year I had the ABS sensor thing go and the nav screen which had always had it's moments started to stick more often. Each repair was well over £1,000 but sorted under warranty. So I decided to extend the warranty. I'm paying £45 a month for full cover with a £250 excess. Hopefully I won't need it but BMWs seem to have their share of reliability issues especially on the electrics.

Here are the pics of the bits that are broken.

There are two of little rubber things one on each side of the box- do not think they can offer any support and not sure whether they need replacing. The lug is the part that seems important, it came out of the hole that is shown with the brass ring.

Yep same what happened to mine.

You need to unscrew the entire glovebox housing (item 1 below) and then this will allow you access to replace the little plastic thing that is broken (think it is item 10). Once you get the housing out it will be pretty self-explanatory, and like I said the part was definitely under a quid when I did it.

Once you get the two matched together again it's a simple case of screwing back up the housing and it's all sorted. Think this makes sense!
