Servicing

I'm heading towards a service' and I'm pondering..
Given my zed is 6yrs old, and the basic 4 cylinder 2.0ltr, is it worth maintaining a bmw history?
Realistically, I plan to keep it for another 2-3 yrs, and have already had brakes and pads done by a long term mechanic friend?
So do you guys say bmw, or turn to the guy I have used for 22yrs across all my previous cars! :?

Your choice - a full BMW history will always sell quicker and may help you get the best price

On the other hand if you are definitely keeping it for another 3 years then residual value may not be a priority?

I'm always keen to get away from the main dealers who in my opinion lack care and are fairly useless at anything that their machines don't tell them.
I've also used a local garage, which is a BMW specialist for years and I'm happy to take a potential loss in value for peace of mind

I'm with jaRED, a specialist will save you cash and do a better job. After 5-6 years I'm not sure it makes so much difference to the sale.

Go with who you know and trust.

Full service history will keep the value up wheather it's BMW or not.

The only thing that main dealers will do better than your mechanic friend is the Cappuccinos and biscuits :D

This is my predicament coming up for the next service. I'm more than capable to do the servicing but people want to see that Main Dealer/Specialist stamp :(
