Servicing recommendations near Cambridge?

My daily drivers have previously been Alfa Romeos, for which the rule of thumb is "avoid main dealers like the plague". So I've been going to a local Alfa specialists for years.

(An Alfa specialist, incidentally, who has a sign on the workshop wall that reads "I'd rather push my Alfa than drive a BMW" :-))

So now that I've joined the dark side, who should I take the car to? The local BMW dealer is Elms, and I've come across a few independents too - Steve Nichols, Tim Spicer and "German Tech".

Any feedback on any of these (good or bad)?

Thanks!

Your local dealer elms BMW is actually an M specialist, when I was there picking some parts up they had a m3 csl meet and the guys said they had people from devon going there?? Might be worth getting a price from them?

Ah - good to know. Thanks.

I'm actually less interested in saving money than going to someone who knows what the hell they're doing. With Alfa's, the main dealers can't tell the difference between a spanner and a hammer, so you're better off with independents. But I guess that things are different with BMWs?

Although mine isn't an M i have always taken it to Bensten in st ives.

Indy bmw specialist. cant fault them.

I've used Elms Stansted for servicing my 118d and also an MOT/window adjustment on my M roadster. Service for that seemed ok. Can't comment on their skills of servicing the M variants, but as mentioned above, they are an M dealer.

I used to use Alfa Aid in Maidenhead for my GTV, great service...

I've just used Elms Cambridge for an Ispection II... great price, good service, no nasty surprises, would happily go there again. There was a CSL meet when I was there, plus an M1 in the showroom 8)
