Servicing questions

So my MR is due a service in 1100 miles, which I negotiated into the price when I got the car.

At this point there will be around 23,000 miles on the clock, so what service would it be?

Also can I have a major service (inspection 2) just to keep everything tip top and me as a new owner piece of mind. I always like to give my cars a major service when I first get them. Apart from the cost is there a problem doing this?

Future buyers might be spooked if the servicing is carried out, out of sequence, it could suggest potential problems with the car. I'd stick to the recommended sequence.

What is the service history of your car?

As srhutch suggests, at the mileage I'd expect Insp 1 to be required, but will be easier to tell if you provide previous history.

Inspection 1 with valve clearances; then you can always pay extra and get the gearbox and diff oil renewed but it is not cheap for the oils.

Ok guys, I think I maybe missing a stamp but will find out.

My service history (main dealer):

2007 - Running in check 1087 miles
2009 - Oil Service 11,694

Car is currently on 2100, and showing 1100 miles to the next service?

Any Advice?

FWIW if it did miss the 2011 service, I'd get it serviced ASAP. The oil is supposed to be changed every 2 years (max) regardless of mileage.

Should have had at least an oil service in 2011, but many miss this 2-year stipulation.

You could check with the BMW Customer Service (premium rate) line to get a list of dealer visits.

However, for piece of mind I'd just go for an Insp1 (engine oil, engine coolant, oil filter, air filter, microfilter, valve clearances, spark plugs?).

BTW, if it's not done much mileage then the tyres may be the original (and now rock hard) Continental SportContact M3s. They weren't class-leading when new, so 6 year old ones will be knackered (that's the technical term).

changed from sport contacts to Pilot Sport 2s transformed the car
Wait until you try SuperSports then :driving:
I prefer my car to look in Period :P

seriously i needed a front set in a hurry after a puncture so the PS2s were the only option- at avge mileage of 3-5k it will be a while before they get changed

Haven't you only just picked the car up?

Yes I negotiated the price with regards to the car needing a service. However missing the stamp was my mistake, thankfully its not an expensive one.

The car as had an oil service, just need to get the book stampeded.

Love the car, mind blowing, it really is my dream car!!
