Hi guys
when i start my car the little car icon comes up and service is displayed but only for a few seconds does this mean it needs a service or is it just a check light? my car is a 2010 with appox 24000 on the clock? If it is a service will this be a major service? I do have a service plan.

Yes, it needs a service. Now RTFM, operate the left hand stalk controls appropriately and all will be revealed regarding the service!
 
Thanks for the reply but dont really understand what its telling me. does it just give you a date your next service is due?
 
The service is due every 2 years so in 2012 you would of had a brake fluid change and an oil service. This time it'll be a brake fluid service and a oil service plus whatever else the dealers feels need to be replaced. It's supposed to be conditioning based servicing however I found with my last car that even if things had just been replaced ie my spark plugs 96 miles previously or my air filter which had only been on the car 12k mile they insisted these needed to be changed.

If you've got a service inclusive you've nothing to worry about as it covered. However your hand book will advise what the symbols are advising. If it's amber it appears within 1000miles when it's red it's due....like yesterday.

As for the date yes it shows that until it's reached that point assuming youvd not hit the miles mark
