Service record

I'm looking at an E89 30i S drive this week - its a one owner Dec 2009 with 11k miles - BMW AUC car so no real risks with the warranty. Beautiful looking car - no sat nav or rear sensors but everything else as you would expect. What should I expect to see on the service record ( inspection 1 yet ? ). The dealership supplied it when new - as its a cash sale I should be able to negotiate . Anything in particular I should look at ?

Can't wait to get back into Zed ownership.

Engine oil and brake fluid at two years from date of manufacture (not registration) the rest is condition based.

Plus its MOT cert! Oh and check those wheels as well.

Yes that's about it, if you like music at all check for large speakers behind the seats giving the stereo upgrade, good luck

Thanks for tip on wheels - price wise its £17500 - looks a good price but would look even better at £17k - about right ??

Manual , space grey , Canberra beige kansas leather ( looks good but probably a bugger to keep clean ! ) My ideal colour would be red but this one looks so good and ticks all other boxes. Never paid this much for a car but you only live once and at 3 years old its already taken the brunt of depreciation. Was hoping to get another years BMW warranty but they say this would be difficult as its done directly with BMW. Usual procedure ( I think ) is that they write to you when the 12 months warranty is about to run out . What the going rate for an extra 12 months bmw warranty ?

I do have a good feeling about this car :)

About £350 for the Mondial warranty, but theres a whole raft of options and you can also pay on the drip!

I was told by my dealer and BMW customer services it was from date of manufacture - I can also understand why as well. The vehicle will have been started from cold several times to be driven into parking areas, onto ships, car transporters, into show rooms, prep areas etc etc - Then we buy them !

Under those circumstances how much condesation is kicking around inside the block?

The brake fluid is hygroscopic and does certainly begin to deteriorate as soon as it goes in - as its already been exposed to the atmosphere.

It may be ok - but as a customer who is paying the bill, I know which one I prefer.

Check the wheels for peeling laquer. I've have a case of this. lower front of the M-sport front bumper gets alot of stone clips on the 'flippers'. otherwise - pretty sound. mine's done 55k and is spot on.

does it have cruise? connectivity pack?

Here's a pick of my Space grey 3.0 to tide you over until to see yours in the flesh! :)

Now you're just baiting him! (or does gov's dealer employ you?)

Not sure what all the spec is - it has the multi-function steering wheel etc but definitely not rear sensors - I'm not that bothered as it has all the things I want ( mainly a 3 litre engine that 's only covered 11k miles ). I reckon I can get it for £17k - from the prices I've seen and for such a low mileage ( and an AUC ) this looks pretty good even without sat nav etc - what do you think?

The dealer supplied the car new to its one owner and say they have not needed to do anything other than clean it up - I've warned them how picky I am but for this money I would expect everything being spot on.

Will certainly be checking all the things mentioned - thanks.

I think you'll have a much better chance of getting a bit of discount at this time of year and its a month end !

The road test might be a bit twitchy tho

interesting mine has the 5 year service package and as it was in for the security update plus some other issues I asked about the service date and was told that they couldn't do the service yet as they are not allowed to do them early the service indicator was on for brake fluid and 2 year service but was told as car was reg in march 2011it couldn't be done til march 2013 which is why the date was reset :?

My car also has a five year package - Not the bells and whistles but the basic service package.

They will only do what the OBC says is required .

My car was built Oct and Registered Dec - The OBC showed service at the Oct date - This is why i asked the questions because like you I thought it should have logically been from the date of registration. I dont think it will make a difference in the grand scale of things.

I only wish they would all sing from the same hymn sheet tho!
