Service light came on but not on any more

My car struggled to start or stalled or something.

Then when I started it again it said service.

Since then it hasn't said it.

Was that just a glitch when it did something weird or does it need a service?

You really need to get a code reader on it and see what problems, if any, are recoded.
It doesn’t sound like something a regular service (oil and filter change and inspection) would address.

If your car was struggling to start it might be worth checking the health of your battery.

BMWs of this era often seem to throw up random warning lights when the battery is tired.
