Service indicator reset

Hello, my E89 just had an MOT at 7 years old. I took car to an independant who advised that my car did not need a service since I have only completed 3,000 miles since last minor service & MOT a year ago with BMW main dealer. The service warning light has just come on and I wonder if anyone can send me instructions on how to reset. Thanks in advance.

I got my E90 3 series MOT'd last month and wanted to reset the MOT reminder in the OBC.

I searched for "E90 Hidden Menu" and found a clip on youtube explaining how to do it, and it worked a treat. :D

If nobody on here can help you why not do the same search for E89?

Dont know where it is in the menu, but I can explain how to GET to it real easy. Credit goes to [ref]greg81[/ref] in the following thread: https://z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=45&t=109650&start=15.

I will use push and rotate to describe the directions as that confused people the last time. Push is a lateral push, rotate will be CW or CCW.

Go to top level menu (hit menu button).
Push up (towards front of car) and hold for at least 10 seconds.
Rotate CW three clicks.
Rotate CCW three clicks.
Rotate CW one click.
Rotate CCW one click.
Rotate CW one click.
Quick depress of the dial (as if selecting a menu).

Go into settings, scroll to bottom and the service menu will display there.

So is it just a "reminder" that can and should be reset when mileage between services is low?
I'd understood from earlier BMWs that the service light system was driven by a combination of time, mileage & driving style.
Or is that all just marketing BS?
