Service II costs 3.0SI

Due to the doubt that TWG could service my M for £209 i rang them today to verify the price and work to be done. It wasn't the most reassuring conversation as they asked me what i expected to be done..

The price of £209 is a base price with part added so it looks more like £300+. I mentioned the requirement for the inspection as well which they acknowledged would be done. I am still going through with the service but will emphasise what i expect to be done prior parting with my car.

Call them back and say you have a E46 M3 that needs a Insp 2, perhaps that won't throw them.

Peterborough BMW have just quoted me £1100 for a inspection 2 service!

Check to see if they support the BMW Value servicing deals ,I suspect for more elderly vehicles as already posted £409 for service 11

Anything less than £500 for an Insp II and I'd be a bit suspicious.

If TWG asked you what you expected to be done I'd be taking elsewhere....they're supposed to be the experts. Similarly, if anybody says that you can drop the car off in the morning and pick up later that day I'd walk away also.

The engine needs to be stone cold to check valve clearances etc.

Yes! Definitely!

Honestly it sounds like they haven't a clue what they are doing, and won't be doing the job properly. I'd take your car elsewhere if I were you!

Looking else were now. Thanks all for the advice

Yeh, definitely get valve clearance check / any shimming that is required.

I think there's a checklist somewhere on the forum that lists everything that is required.

valve clearances / diff oil are the two things I really want to be carried out.

I was charged about £850 from my Indy for Insp 2. Had roughly the below done:

Engine oil & Filter
Plugs
Gearbox oil
Diff oil
Valve clearance check/adjust. Genuine BMW shims and gaskets etc. Have photos and report
Coolant change & additional additive
Brake fluid change & brakes stripped and checked
Geo alignment check.

They used the BMW schedule check list for the actually full inspection 2. The brake fluid/coolant/geo were in addition to the ISP 2. I also had my bypass pipes fitted extra. Total bill was about £900 I think.

£200 ish can't be correct!

Just had TWG come back to me with a mechanic who knew what he was talking about - the price is £580 for

Engine oil & Filter
Plugs
Gearbox oil
Diff oil
Valve clearance check/adjust.
MOT

^^ Sounds about right.

The TWG local to me in Camberley quote £540 for the Z4M inspection 2, and IIRC I was quoted £90 for my MOT...

Their price list is below, so it looks like you've got a bit of a deal getting the MOT done at the same time...

I'm sure another member just had their //M serviced there too, and uploaded photos of the inspection report showing what was required.

I'll try and find the thread!

EDIT: here you go!

Sounds a lot closer to the mark.

I think there are a number of other visual checks they do on engine compartment etc.

When were you last serviced, don't forget brake fluid change if it's been 2 years.
