My SES light just came on, its yellow, should I be worried? 2005, 2.5i, 30k km, had an oil/filter change 3 weeks ago.

Question is..
Should I be worried?
The car is still under warranty, do I have to pay the dealer to have them check it out?
Does the SES come on and off? or onces its thrown, it stays till reset.

If under warranty you shouldn't have to pay anything at all. If it's running fine don't worry too much, but definitely get it dealt with as soon as you can. If it's running poorly, don't risk further damage and call roadside assist and get it towed to the dealer for the repair.
The SES light will come on for literally dozens of reasons. Anything from a coolant temp sensor out of range to a lean condition (either can be potentially damaging to the engine). It's the warning indicator for issues with the fuel injection, emissions, and transmission systems. On an OBD ll system the light will generally stay on until cleared even for an intermittant condition.

As said this light comes on by a number of reasons. It stays on until erased by the shop computer.
You better go and check why came on, so to be sure. The shop OBD will read the reason.

So I had the dealer check the SES, turns out it was a combination of gas cap not being closed properly and a failed O2 sensor.

I hope the gas cap problem doesnt occur again, I know for sure I closed it 'properly'... or did I...

Oxygen sensor was covered under warranty, which is always a good thing.

On my 03, I filled the tank up too much, and a light "Check Gas Cap" came on.

I checked the cap but it was ok.

The light went away when I burned some of the fuel off...
