Serious problems with my wipers - can anyone help???

Hi all,

My 03 Z4 3.0l has developed a serious problem recently with the wipers. Basicallay to cut a long story short the wipers when you flick them to normals or fast stop mid window after about 2 minutes of use. The only way to get them to work again is to stop the car and turn the ignition off and on.
Also if you push down on the stick for one quick wipe it sometimes does just that but also someties goes crazy and wipes the window about 10 times.
It also seems that the wipers dont always sit properly and seem a bit up the window.

Any help/advice/thoughts would be very welcome as i dont want to take it into BMW for them to charge me just to diagnose what may be a common problem.

Hi mate - thanks for the quick reply.

It certainly sheds some light on the wipers not sitting problem but the main issue is the wipers just stopping mid wipe!

Im thinking maybe a motor problem but then why would they work at all??!!!

almost have the same with mine, only that it just stops and then I have to move the leaver and it works again
