Security update and roof remote control

In my quest for a Z4, I went to test-drive few of them . I fall into one equips with the comfort access and I was unable to open or close the boot remotely using the key :| . However, I have tested it on other Z4 with and without comfort access with no issues. The sale man assure me that it was due to a security bulletin from BMW :x . This feature is removed by a software update ... Have you heard anything about such security recommendation/update from BMW ?

+1 . Mine had the update ages ago. Boot open has always worked. Good to know that bmw dealers are clued up the same old standards.

You'll find the button only opens the roof and my dealer has turned somersaults trying to bypass BMW's efforts to lock out button or key closure - It was the service manager who tried and not a first year apprentice.

So OP you meant 'ROOF' when you said 'BOOT'!

Boot will open (not CLOSE!?) by the button on any car provided you have set the car to allow it (default) via iDrive or Check Control.

ROOF will open AND close from the key ONLY if you have Comfort Access. Otherwise ROOF will only open from the key, not close.

The security bulletin ONLY disabled the ability to open and close the roof from the car door lock.
