Seat Spacer Mod

I am very confused now!! It was only supposed to be a very simple job and offer to help out if any one wanted one.

I am not sure what to make it out of and how to make it??? I think i will make mine with the stainless unless i can find the other bits at work. Welding to bits together is no problem ( its something i am OK at )
 
Go for it. I'm still up for some if you do want to make a couple extra. :D
 
Guess you now have to have the seat forward more or the headrest will touch the hoop?
Or incline the back of the seat to compensate?
 
Ok got them made i will put pome pics up to show you the progress.

Right the nut is 25mm long
The stud is 36mm long
stud sticks out about 23mm
Leaving 13mm engaged with the nut ( witch will be TIG welded in place )
Hole depth 11 - 12 mm long

I will try them and make sure they work this weekend ( as long as its not to wet )

And There you are the pictures of the measurements and some machining ones. Notice i am using a collet to hold the M10 bolt so i don't damage it. No half measures like using a 3 jaw chuck hear thanks very much!!

My caliper could do with a clean :o
 
Ha ha I run my own teaching workshop at a university they are quite relaxed . its amazing what can be done in a Coffey break. Just off to weld them up will post again later.

There you have it welded up. I have turned the weld down so the seat rail sits flush. Its all solid with plenty of thread engagement. Going on Saturday :driving: No more back pain hear i come!!
 
Sorry for the late reply on this. Not a great success the reason there is only 3-4 turns of thread engaged is because of the length of the studs coming out of the floor in the car. So unless you chop them down ( cant see that being a good idea ) You can only have 3-4 threads screwed into the hex part b4 the new studding hits the cars studding coming out of the floor.

My solution was to just make the hex longer 30mm and found it comfy and no back pain. I have a few left over if any one wants to give them a try. I don't want anything for them just pay the postage or pick them up?

Next thing wheel spacers any one know anything about them?? I have made them b4 for landrovers + Rangrovers. Any one got an info drawings????
