Seat replacement help

Hey Guys

I am about to change over my seats from clothe to leather. I have read a few guides on this and it seems straight forward apart from disconnecting the battery which I need explain further.

I will be lowering the roof before I take the seats out but do I have to leave the battery alone for certain amount of time before I remove the negative cable after having the engine running? Also some people say remove the negative and some say remove the positive lead. (which is it?)

After I remove either the negative or positive lead, some people say leave the seats in for an additional 30 minutes to avoid the airbag warning light issue. Is this necessary to wait for this amount of time?

Also do I risk putting the car in transport mode by even messing with the battery in the first place? How do I avoid this as I would really like to keep my air-con working during the upcoming summer.

Anyway I apologise if these are some really basic questions but this is my first time. Lol

Thank you to the forum members for their help.

I've done this with a Z3, so assume the procedure will be very similar.

What I did was drop the roof and move both seats all the way back.
Undid the front bolts and then carefully moved the seats all the way forward to undo the rear bolts.

Then disconnect the negative lead on the battery and remove the seats.

Provided you don't unplug anything with the battery connected you shouldn't have any issues with the airbag warning etc.

As above you can disconnect either lead but protect from accidental reconnection, there is no need to wait to reconnect after everything is plugged in, good luck

Just be careful not to reconnect the battery until you're 100% sure that all the wiring for the seats is connected up.
