Seat Problem

Does this happen to you when sitting in other cars/on the bus/on the sofa at home?

I once felt like I was sitting in a heated seat when I wasn't (never been allowed to drink rum since!). :lol:

No nothing, its been ok today as well. I'll give the seller a call tomorrow.

Yeah, I know, hilarious isn't it.

I was warned this forum had its fair share of morons before I joined, and from what I've seen so far it's proven to be correct.

OK so you've established that it wasn't a secret army of seat upgrading ants that installed your temperamental arse heaters. Or at least if it was they didn't bother installing their own locally switched control.

You have 3 possibilities as I see it...

1. Aftermarket heating elements hacked into your seats that are hard wired into a live feed off your ignition circuit.

2. OEM heated seats have been retrofitted but the installer has not sprung for the ashtray panel with the extra buttons so they've just wired them permanently on.

3. The car came with heated seats from the factory and the ashtray panel switch module failed and was replaced with a non heated seat variant and the circuit crudely closed to make the seats permanently on. You can check original factory spec using your VIN.

The 4th option would be that there is a non OEM DIY switch installed somewhere (under the dash?) maybe just a simple on/off rocker but you have already checked for this by the sounds of it.
