I currently have none heated electric se seats and while i find them very comfortable they dont hold you when the driving gets a little more progressive. So what options other than finding a set of rare and expensive msport seats do i have. Would like to keep electric and possible have heated too. Any thoughts appreciated.

Didn't someone post an ebay link for a pair of red seats a few days ago - they fit the Zed but I think they were the front seats from another BMW. In fact I think someone on here got them and posted about it.

It was posted ca 6 months ago on here, sports seats from E46. If you find the posting it also has the item/part nr to look for as not all of them fit

RX8 seats are so much cheaper ! do they sit as low in the car as the standard seats and what did you have to do to fit them ?

A member on here has fitted seats from the Mazda RX8, there are photo's on here, somewhere.

I've worked on that car, and they looked nice. He also had the electrics and heating working in them.

Apparently M3 seats are a straight fit, with no alterations to the wiring.

The red ones from Ebay are in another members car now, those are the one's that had been retrimmed and looked a bit pink in the photos, but having seen them they actually look fine.

Depending on the age of your car, the wiring for the heating may well already be there, and need nothing more than the switch panel to activate it - I believe it's also a quite simple retrofit for the heater if yours is a later car, someone on here did it, and I think the loom form an X3 was used?

The e46 seats are shaped for the wider gentleman so I always found myself flopping from side to side plus without the optional lumbar support I never found a comfortable position on longer drives. The Z4 seats have better ergonomics more akin to the e90 seats which do support you well even without the lumbar support. In other words, better off with RX8 seats.

Yeah, I sat in John's car at the Bristol meet last year, very comfy too.

Hi Rusky,

I've fitted RX8 seats and will be at Duxford if you want to have a look,

Cheers John.

Cheers John, i will be in the silver 85 with the hard top on

Yes, apart from the seat belt mount. (which is on a bracket in the M3 but that bracket doesn't fit in the Z4). I bent the seatbelt mount in a 90 degree angle & mounted it under the seat rail
