Seat Belts slow to retract!

Both seatbelts are slow to retract especially the drivers side. And I'm constantly trapping the buckle between door and frame. I expect its down to the mileage, 120k, but thers no other issue. working fine and passes MOT no issues.

Is there any way to lubricate the mechanism to speed up the retraction or is the only answer to replace the belt (s)?

Suggestions and ideas please

mine did the same, i removed item 10 and seat belt worked fine, gave it all a clean and put cover back on, no problems since.

Any hints or tips how to remove it mac? or is it just a clip in clip out job?

They are not a serviceable item, but generally a good vacuum out of the unit and it'll start working again as dust and fluff seesm to be the main issue.
Don't be tempted to spray lubricant, especially the likes of WD40 in :thumbsdown:
 
Lubricant is a bad idea as mentioned above, but I've had a bit of success in making sticky seat belts slide back a bit easier by spraying a bit of Mr Sheen (or any wax based furniture polish) on the belt guide on other cars in the past. Don't forget to wipe off the excess :)
 
One reason might be that they are just worn. There are mechanism that rolls back belt. When that gets old, seat belts wont return as they should.
