hi all, i posted this over on PH but didn't get much of a responce :(

anyone with a E89 35i M Sport DCT tell me what real world MPG they are getting? there are a couple of really low miler 60 plate cars on AUC at about the £34-35k mark thats got my brain ticking... as it looks like i'm not gonna be able to sell the 911 private so i'll probably end up trading, originally thinking of going for a £10k GT-TDI golf and an Exige S... i'm sure i'd get a better deal trading up rather than down....

my 2 Z4M coupes we bought in the same manor off AUC approx 2k miles and 3-6 months old at a hefty £17K+ discount on the list price, unfortunately i can't get the BMW spec page to work, but these E89 cars look to be £47-48K too, so decent discount and i do miss the feel of a new car :D

my old Z4M used to do about 26-27MPG on my 70 mile round trip commute(compared to the 22-23 in the 911) for this to work it'd have to be noticably better than the Z4M - bloody petrol prices! also i understand the ride is much more compliant then the Z4M? this was my major issue with it, well that and the clutch... going DCT will definitely eliminate that one ;)

I have a manual 35i and I get an average of 27-28 MPG. Mixture of B road and dual track/motorway "spirited" driving, not much town driving. This was around the same that I got from my 3.0si Coupe Z4.

Trip to Cornwall last year took that up to around 31-32MPG. On a "driver" trip to Wales not long back, it dipped to around 22MPG. I always run it on super unleaded, either Optimax or Ultimate.

To be honest MPG never really figures with me. You buy a 3ltr car you'r not really being comuter freindly! If it does start to bug me, I'd sell it and get another MINI S!

Not DCT, I have a manual and over my first 2800 miles I've done about 26-27mpg on a mixture of driving, only using Super Unleaded. It really depends how much you use your right boot, if you can hold off I'm sure you'll see high 20's, but it's too addictive using the power for me to able to resist.

My 35i DCT gets 18 around the city (less than 5 mile trips, no chance to warm up), 30 on short trips (20miles+), best I've had is 43 on a motorway run driving at around 65/70. It evens out to around 180 miles to a tank constant city driving/commute, or over 400 miles to the tank on a run. I like to avoid thinking about it, as I'd end up depressed, and that's not what this car is for!

thanks guys, so not as good as i thought, i was under the impression this 3l turbo unit was economical lol

what does everyone thing are must have options? the 2 cars im interested in don't have the adaptive suspension which i quite fancy, if its similar to PASM on the 911 it works well.

BMW never seem to spec adaptive it so it's unlikely you'll pick one up. One reason to go for the 35is instead, adaptive is standard.

Quie a few seem to be without any kind of loudspeaker upgrade, which from the comments on here is a necessity. I'd also try and get cruise too.

What about going for a nice 30i instead, bit easier on the juice? The additional power is nice but where can you use it these days?

I love my adaptive suspension. Makes the standard car more comfy in normal, yet in sport or sport plus it tightens up to make the other adaptations come together. As for the power.. Who wants a slow sportscar? You might not use the power often, but when you do, my god!

can't stretch to a iS unforuntately, this is the one i've got my eye one - http://www.bmw.co.uk/bmwuk/bmwauc/details/0,,1156___ask-23%40adm-xx,00.html?ch=_V0JBTE03MjA3MEU0MTA5MDI= looks like the space grey one has sold, its not got the 19's but i'm not bothered, the 911 is much better on 18's so i assume its a similar story

i was hoping it'd do 30mpg on my communite i had a 3.4 DFi cayman that managed 29.4 which i thought wasn't bad, theoretically with a PDK box it would of done better

Nice. Just check the inside of those rear 19" wheels for cracks. I was going to get BMW 19" for mine but I've decided to stay with the 18" looking at stories on here and the internet! Guess it depends how good the roads you regulaly drive on are! Most roads round by me that are not dual tracks really need a Range Rover Sport!!
