Scuffed wheel with tyre damage

Hi

Scuff is painful but can sorted. What I'm worried about is the rip in the tyre side wall in the drivers side front wheel. Here's a pic (apologies car was not washed!)

It is a superficial tear. The tyre is a Bridgestone runflat. Most disturbingly I have no idea when this damage occurred but do recall catching something on the motorway surface a few days ago which I didn't see as it was dark.

Any advice very much appreciated

Cheers JC :D

That looks like the rim protector :?
You could have the tyre removed & take it for a vulcanised repair if you are concerned .

Ye looks ok to me, not apart of the wall its the rim protecter designed to do exactly as above.

Thats the rim protector and fine. If it was me i would use a little superclue to stick it down and not worry about it at all.

The tyres on my M5 had the same and this is what i did. Thats what the rim protector is there for.

Its the rim protector and is not going to be crucial to the integrity of the tyre, however i believe it will fail a current mot test, not 100% on that though

Off to look for superglue in the 'man-drawer'

Right behind the dead batteries and the house keys from a previous house ....

This is all very reassuring.

Big thanks to you all. Off to look for superglue in the 'man-drawer'

Cheers JC :D

I agree with the above - no issue re legality of tyre. As for superglue ... I tried that on a tyre a couple of years ago at the suggestion of the garage but it didn't work - so I just lopped off the offending bit of rubber. The scuff to my lovely 313 alloy was not so easy to sort

So with the alloy itself , would you plan on getting the while wheel refurbed or can you get good results with a repair instead?
