Screenwash error A6D3 - sorted

Screenwash was absolutely fine, then this morning there is no water coming out (reservoir is almost full), and there is no sound of the pump running.

ProTool reports A6D3 windshield washer pump. I cleared the code and it came back immediately. There are no other errors.

I cleared the error, disconnected the plug to the pump and put a voltmeter across the terminals. The wipers move, but there is no voltage on the pump supply terminals.

My first guess was fuse 48, but that also supplies the headlamp washers and they are working fine. It could be a broken wire, but I can't see any reason why that would happen.

Any suggestions please?

I had a similar issue on mine. The problem wash that the filter before the pump was all gunked up. I took out the washer reservoir and cleaned that out along with the filters and all was well again.

Mine was so nasty after I attempted to clean, I just replaced the pump and res. It was almost like the previous owner poured syrup into it.

Looks pristine in the engine bay too...

Sorted. The pump had failed. Easy swap, just a bit fiddly to get at - I had to lift the tank part way out. New pump £8.45 on Amazon https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B006DHWPOI?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title

2013 car, but absolutely no sludge. I am on VERY hard water, but I don't know what happened in its previous lives.

Once I got the screenwash working, I checked the headlamp wash to ensure that I had put everything back together properly, and that was (seemingly) not working. I wondered if it had been accidentally coded out, but couldn't find any setting (nor any way to adjust how many screenwashes trigger a headlamp wash - I think it is hard coded at 10).

Just in case anyone else hits this issue, the headlamp wash ONLY works when the headlamps are switched on  This is the kind of thing that you don't pay much attention to, so it is easy to forget.

Rereading the original post, the reason there was no voltage was that the numpty (me) was measuring the voltage on the headlamp washer supply, not the screenwash one. I now know which motor is which!

Every day is a school day; if you don't learn from your mistakes, there is no point in making them. :D

Thank you for this post - was doing my head in that the screen washer tested bad, headlight washer tested ok, fuses fine, but no volts to the headlight washer - thought I had all sorts of issues until I saw this!

Thanks for that; I'm glad it helped.

To others reading this, please do post the fix when an issue is resolved, as you never know when someone else will hit the same problem.
