Screen-wash

Newbie question sorry, my Z is out of screen-wash completely. Is any brand screen-wash OK before I pour gallons of it in, or should I be looking for a specific brand?

The Halfords one seems to clog the filter in the bottom, but on an E85/E86 its very easy to clean out and doesn't happen very often.

Iv'e used the Tesco concentrate for years and never had an issue diluted to 20%

BMWs have fine filters on their washer bottles and BMW (predictably) advise you to use their brand. Bought my car at 18 months old and within weeks the filters were clogged.

I'm now using BMW own brand as whatever the previous owner was using obviously wasn't up to the job. Whether there are other, presumably cheaper, ones out there that you can rely on - not sure. But I'm sure you'll get some further recommendations.

Filled mine yesterday with sainsburys concentrated screen wash diluted to approx 1 part in 3. Will let you know if I have problems!

I always used Halfords stuff in my E46 and never had a problem over 4.5 years and 90,000 miles. Am doing so with the Z at the moment so we'll see.

Only use the concentrated Holts/Prestone -35C stuff (similar product in different bottles and usually about £4 for 4-5L which makes 50 litres from Costco) in mine, and have done in all my cars since 2000. Not had a blockage in over 200,000 miles!

Don't rate the 'All Season' stuff though, so stick to the 'winter with deicer' version.
