Scratch the size of Manhatten!

Hi There,

After spending 18 months successfully reversing out of the tight spot of my G/F's driveway, I have now accidently hit the wall and made what looks like a pretty bad scrath on the rear left, damaging the back pannel and the panel above that (see pictures below).

After I wiped away the tears and stopped using the F-Word more times than Gordon Ramsey, I now need to find out how much the panels will cost to replace. If you see the photos below, the plactic panel can be replaced but not sure if its worth getting the metal one replaced or touched up. Either way I need an idea of the cost and where from.

Thanks in Advance

could you not have it smoothed off, filled and re-sprayed? has to be cheaper than replacing an entire rear bumper. best thing would be to ask around if anyone knows a good local bodyshop and get a quote. im in a similar boat but mine is just a small crease on the bumper above the numberplate but as i have other things to pay for it can wait a month or two.

id shudder to think what a new wing would cost if sourced from bmw, but rear bumpers ive seen on ebay fairly cheap, but you'd still have to pay for a respray.

Looking at those pics there is no way you need to replace any part a good body shop will sort those no probs

Or live with it till you get a rel reason to swap panels.

I would expect a £250 fill and spray to work there.

I recently did slightly more damage to the wife's X5 (well at least it wasn't the Z4!) I used a local mobile repair bloke who filled in scratches on the rear wing, bumper and rubber cover thing all for £160. he was brilliant and I was suprised at how good the finish was (impossible to tell).
A good mobile or body shop will sort that for sure.

It really is not that bad, and should be an easy fix. My wife did the something similar to her car some years back and it was repaired with no panel replacements.

A friend of mine did the same thing to his at Homecoming last year, he took it to a body shop and they fixed it, you can't tell where it was done.

What everyone else says.

I would guess £200 to cut corners and do a smart type repair or £500 ish to respray both the rear panel and rear bumper.

A smart repair will always come back to haunt you though IMO

Cheers
