Hey,

Quick question - been 10 years since I last scrapped a car; and back then I rang round and best I could manage was finding someone to take it without charging....

Is this still the case? Likely to be scrapping an old MK3 golf in the next week or so - don't wanna miss out if there is any chance of getting some cash for it.

Ta :)

It's worth at least £50 as scrap. It weighs in at around £100 a ton.

Thanks.

I've tried this angle to negotiate a price - but they grumble about it needing labour to strip down, some of the weight not being same value etc.

Scrap metal merchant rather than a breaker.

Webuyanycar etc usually have a fee nowadays that counters the cost of low end cars.

Andi.

If you can drive it to a scrap yard ,depending on the price of scrap metal at that time you should expect £50 +

I was offered £125 (collected) for my Polo from a scrapper. However, I managed to get £650 on ebay, despite it being a rusty POS with 4 days MOT left. Could be worth a try?

eBay is what I was going to say, sold my last bang on there in 30 minutes for £300
