Scraped/scratched underside of front bumper - advice re: fix

Hi all, just looking for some top advice. I was out enjoying the last of the amazing weather checking out Black Mountain Pass road in south wales. Unfortunately after taking a great photo, I have managed to scrape my front bumper on returning to the road (there was a reasonably large dip in road and on pulling forward the front edge and underside of the bumper took a big hit, mainly at both sides close to the wheels). Luckily reversed back and managed to get back onto the road without any further damage.

Most of the paintwork damage is deep and mainly on the underside lip of the bumper but on the protruding lip, it is quite bumpy on both sides of the vehicle directly in front of the wheels.

Can't decide whether to take to a bodyshop and get them to sort out (unsure of price)?
Or I may use halfords white primer, bmw alpine white paint, masking tape and sand paper?

Never done any diy scuff/scrape repairs, anyone got any good words of advice? Unfortunately no pics of damage - too mortified after the injury. But great pic prior to damage!

Hi I had a similar mishap last week on lower edge and side of bumper in front of nearside front wheel . The paintwork was scuffed down to the black plastic. I gently rubbed it down with 600 grade emery paper, primed and carefully sprayed with paint. Don't get the paint from BMW it costs a fortune go to Autopaint they will make up a can for you if you give them the paint code mine cost £9 Incidently if the scratches are deep which mine were not you may need to apply some Halfords scratch filler this is better than body filler as it's much easier to rub down.

I have checked on Google and there are Autopaint outlets in South Wales I assume you live in that area .... Good luck Mal

Day off today but it's absolutely pissing down! May just pop out today and sand down and check out the damage! Have got some paint and primer from halfords! Just really awkward to spray paint and prep! It's times like this that I wish i had a car ramp!

which road do you mean? not the one that comes north with the river flowing down its left hand side and ends up in Sennybridge?...sadly your pic got deleted.... :(

Looks a real pain to fix myself, so checked out the local garages. £195 from a local bodyshop who wanted to removed bumper, fill, San and repain whole of lower bumper. Surprisingly asked BMW for a quote, and they were cheaper! Chap from the bodyshop says will do it for £95, same service except will put up on the ramp and avoid removing the bumper! I thought it was a reasonable price given will need some minor filling sanding and painting of lower half of bumper!

Take the £95 job, then you have some leaverage if its not right and it will be a better job if it's all painted

Yeah, i was lost for words! Even asked if it included vat, when he said it also included vat I nearly passed out! Most of damage is not easily visible, just a bit bumpy on the leading edge which is easily visible. Booked in for next Friday! It's BMW Synter Cardiff for anyone's future reference. I'll Upload some pics soon.

Some picture of the marks on the bumper. Just a small section, entire bumper covered in these scratches along the bumper surface.
