Monday morning Newbie thread :D

So, for those of you who have seen my 'Wanted' thread floating around in the 'For Sale' section over the last 4 months or so, this has been a a fair while coming. I was originally leaning towards a roadster, because I'm a massive poser just like my dad and enjoy getting the roof down whenever it isn't raining.

For months I had my hopes up that GJC (Monaco Blue Roady, caramel leather and some sweet, sweet mods) would end up selling after this summer - however he very sensibly decided to keep hold, which left me with the taste of a Z4 hunger which wouldn't subside, so I began a proper hunt.

I went to see 3 or 4 roadsters, test driving some, having my time wasted by others ("Hi there, was hoping you could confirm whether or no the roadster you have for sale has xenons?"... "Yes sir, full xenons." [Arrive on a Friday afternoon to view car]... "Yeah, this doesn't have xenons at all."), before eventually managing to sit myself in a Coupe again. I'm not sure what happened, but something clicked, and all of a sudden a Coupe was the one for me. That bodywork, by Christ is it pretty.

Anyway, a few came and went, including a Coupe version of GJC's roadster which I desperately hankered for despite being a couple grand out of my price range (low mileage, immaculate condition inside and out, all the toys), until I finally stumbled across my Montego Blue beauty.

According to the seller, another young chap had put a deposit down within half a day of it being on sale, before having to pull out 2 weeks later before even being able to go view it due to his father not letting him have such a powerful rear wheel drive car - believe what you wish of that, I reckon that lad was just dreaming though before realising he couldn't actually afford it. Alas, as fate has it, I was scouring the web the day it went back up on sale, gave them a call and put a holding deposit myself. I loved the look, the colour combo, and had everything I was looking for already - CSL reps, aftermarket backbox, stubby aerial, satnav, heated seats, xenons, the blue with white leather colour combo  I was sold.

Went to view, and I couldn't really fault it at the price I paid. A full service history, with every receipt for anything ever spent on the car, allowed me to be confident in knowing where it was in terms on it's servicing schedule - got it booked in for a couple of fluid changes and spark plugs already with a local specialist (ex-head BMW tech etc. etc.) and I'll be happy that side of things. Drove it home the day I bought it, and now had it for just over a week and loving every second.

Already got myself a ZHP through work (I work for BMW MINI, so cheap parts thanks very much), and I want to get a couple other things looked at - occasional groan from the power steering at low speeds when turning, only happens 2/10 times maybe?, and a squeaky alternator belt from cold starts, but that's just being picky really.

Gave it a proper clean, polish and wax yesterday, about 5 hours worth of work and it only cost me the end of my fingers which are still tender today. Had a friend grab his camera and took a few shots around the local area, hopefully going to get some nice sunset shots at some point this week down by the River Thames (we have some sexy spots round these ends) - and below are some pictures taken with our phones, as I probably won't get the 'real photo's' til later this week, and I couldn't wait much longer to post my newbie thread

Anyway, glad to finally be a proper part of this forum, will make a forum donation when I get paid on Friday and looking forward to hopefully taking part in some meets and drives at some point soon. Only seen 1 other coupe on the road so far, but I see him most mornings somewhere between Oxford and Benson heading in the other direction... Anyone on here I wander? I think it's Space Grey, or whichever grey it was on the coupes, I forget :P not sure of the reg, too busy smiling and sticking my thumb up at the chap, probably thinks I'm a rare one.

In a bit team, thanks for taking the time to read

Welcome to the forum and the exclusive coupe club  Lovely looking zed you have there. Enjoy. :)

Nice intro write up, car looks like a great example!

Enjoy and take plenty of pictures while out and about 8)

Cheers guys, properly loving it at the minute.

Hopefully gonna get a M front bumper as I think it just completes the look... Can anyone recommend the best place to get a front bumper sprayed in the midlands/south-ish? Can get a brand new one in primer with all the gubbins for around £300, so if I can find a fairly priced resprayers then I'ma go down that route! :)

Looks tidy, good combo. You need cruise adding ;)

You're not wrong there actually, definitely feel like it could do with it. Bit too intimidated to take on the job myself though - how easy is it in reality?
