As a regular to the Ring I was shocked to read this:

'An important message from; John Safe-VP BMW CC GB.

This unique driving course IS a way of life to hundreds of thousands of people around the World. Please do NOT sit back and wait for someone else to do
something--YOU Can help to save the circuit--Now!!.Driving courses and free lapping will be priced out of existance if we do not take some action, JS.

The famous ‘Ring is under threat of closure due to financial mismanagement - please read the details below and if you agree sign the petition -

http://www.gopetition.com/petition/41698.html

Background (Preamble):

From 2007 - 2009 the German government built a huge Leisure Park at the Nürburgring. It is based on fake visitor numbers, over sized and badly executed.
Most of the time it is an empty ghost town. Once promised as private investment, it is now based on a debt of €350+ million public money.

Instead of pulling the plug they rented the park, including both race tracks to exactly the same privateers who were driving forces behind the Leisure Park's
initial private setup. Without racing experience they are since experimenting with events completely unrelated to motorsport all under the iconic
"Nürburgring" brand name.

They now want Nordschleife to pay for the huge losses. Tourist drives are at a record high, plus a 5 times increase in rent for the automotive industry for
their prototype testing sessions.

What Needs To Be Done?

Separate Nordschleife from ring°park.Let Nürburgring be motorsport.
Value the great heritage and tradition, rather than Roller Coasters.
Let the Ring be run by motorsport experts.

Please show your support and sign the petition.

Thankyou to All BMW Drivers and other petrolheads.

John Safe-VP BMW CC GB.

If you have an interest in the continued use of the Nurburgring (or have not been but intend to give it a try) then can I suggest you follow the links and add your name to the petition. The Green Hell is part of motorsport tradition and to loose it would be to loose a significant and historical part of motor racing heritage.

+1 signed and posted onto my Facebook for additional action. Great cause to highlight AlanJ

Who would buy the Ring then if it were sold? I have never been but it is high on my list of things to do...
Would be a shame if it died.

I've added my name. Don't want this going before I get the chance to get an ///M :-(

Thanks - all to easy to dispose of 'heritage' which we can never recover.

great news from the official nurburgring FB page.

looks like Nurburgring GmbH will be getting the agreed €15 million p.a. rent from Nurburgring Automotive GmbH over 20 years. shame the development cost isn't quite met
