SatNav Reset

Yesterday the satnav screen totally froze and none of the buttons would cause the screen to change eg to menu or phone

First time it has done it

At the lights I switched off the engine, waited and started up again but didnt reset the system and screen popped up still frozen

Overnight it has successfully reset
Does anybody know how to / how long to wait to reset the system if it does this?

Thanks

no idea how long the car takes to do this - but wip out the neg from the battery for a few seconds should do this instantly- but you will lose any trip compiter readings also (incase you record your milage)

Was hoping for a more 'on the fly' solution - so if it does again when navigating I can still get where I am going - wondered if its in minutes (hope so) rather than hours (hope not!)

No need to disconnect the battery. Once the car shuts down, around 15 minutes after last use, then the sat nave will reboot and sort itself out.

Switching off at the lights woudl have had no effect, however as you noted leaving it overnight worked

Cool
15 mins is doable - esp as doesnt seem to be a common issue
Thanks

Many little software problems sort themsleves out this way.

As an aside the most frequent cause of such freezes on the sat nav is poorly copied backup discs, non oem maps or an editted OS

Mine went mental the other day, every trick I tried made it worse.

You have to let the car "sleep".. once Locked, I'm not sure it's 15mins but can't be too far off, then it's a cold boot and you should be ok.
