Hi,

You know when you turn on the radio it automatically brings the SAT NAV (well the screen) up, is there a way to switch this off so I can turn the radio on without the screen popping up?

Cheers.

Gaffa tape?? :D

Actually I think if you use the switch that pops the screen down, it remembers it and stays down to you switch it again, but im not sure as I have not tried it.

Yup... take out the sat nav screen, wiring, radio, and dvd player... then remove the dash... then drop me a PM... I will do similar to mine, then we will swap... mine is the "upgraded" version with the radio with little orange LED's rather than that pesky old screen... you'll love it! I won't even charge you for swapping, I'm that kinda guy :D

Typical Yorkshireman :D

Ok by those responses I take it there is no way to switch it completely off!

Thing is I know what radio stations are on each button, I don't need the screen to pop every time to remind me and I just know that it will eventually fail with the constant use....

LOL, sorry, I have no clue, only had 5 days use of sat nav in the courtesy car, so wouldn't know.... I hope someone comes along with the answer, other than just us pi$$ takers. :D

I also don't like not being able to keep the screen closed when using the stereo. I can be listening to a MP3 CD and close the screen with the close screen button. All is good, then a song comes on that I might want to skip, so I press the arrow up button on the steering wheel to change songs. The CD skips to the next song, but the screen opens up as well, which I don't want open. This is even more annoying at night on dark roads with the LCD screen lit up.

I was thinking to add a switch that would prevent the screen from opening when the switch is in the off position. The screen must have a motor to open and close it. I would simply put an on/off switch in line to the wire that provides power to the motor. I could mount the switch down low near the aux input or any other convenient non destructive place. Now if I could find a schematic, it would make it easier to see what's going on. Maybe the switch could even be wired into the fuse for the screen, if the fuse doesn't provide power to other accessories.

Good luck - after living with mine for almost a couple of years now I have simply gotten used to the fact that the screen is gonna pop back up every time you do anything with your radio/NAV system besides moving the volume knob...... :drinkwine:

X2

I love the screen - my music through the Intravene shows the complete iPod screen on the pop up screen, great for navigation.

I'd be suprised if you can simply drop a switch inline anywhere outside the unit, as it will be a digital signal whizzing around the bus and presumably grounding somewhere. The only way would be to pull the unit out, dismantle it and find the internal 12v supply to the motor. Interesting challenge.

I'm with pvr though I love the screen and how it's high up on the dash visible, etc., but that's just persoanl choice of course

PVR keep meaning to ask, is it possible to return to the screen where it shows audio details once you have slected nav.

It seems that if you get in the car it will display audio details, but as soon as you select a nav function the system will always revert to nav screen after a few seconds, whick is a little PIA

A ha, so other people are having this problem too, I thought switching off completely would be a standard function but hey ho...

Just get yourself an Intravee kit, lots of satnav screen programming available for hours of pleasure, including a GPS control of the car clock to always have exact time.

I spend half the time watching the road, the other half on playing with the iPod screen on the nav unit :D

Punch the button to the right of the "info" button (it doesn't have a name on it). That also allows you to toggle back to the NAV screen too.
