Sat Nav screen flickering

As the title really. Each time I start the car and drive off the screen has taken to flickering like a computer whose video card is not right or whose power is iffy.

It settles after about 3 mins but does it each time from 'cold'.

I am going to video it for the dealer as once the cars been driven for more than a mile it stops.

It is not affected by bumps ... it has just started to do it when first driving off. Even leaving the car 10 mins is ok ... it just does it on first startup.

Any ideas ? It's a 13 plate 35iS.
 
I have booked it in for 1 June ... earliest I could get a loan car.

The wife took a video we have shown them as it only does it when cold. Once the car is warm it settles down but takes maybe 2 minutes. As the dealer is 40 minutes away I will leave it with them overnight and suggest they try in the morning otherwise I do not want the 'we can't find a fault' call !

Dealer is Vines in Guildford who I have faith in and they agreed they could see it on the video ... so here's hoping it all gets sorted in 3 weeks.
 
Well, the car went to the dealers ... they had it for 2 days and couldn't find a fault after a software upgrade. The first journey since having the car home and the screen starts going mad again - joy !

I am on holiday in 10 days using the car so am not hugely impressed. I am told they will have to contact BMW for directions as they can't replicate the fault - though I have sent them 3 videos of it doing it ...

I guess I will lose the car again but not until after my holiday as they needed a month nearly to sort a spare car for me last time.

Unimpressed. The car has done a grand total of 4770 miles since new ...
 
The dealer has my car back. They know I am going away ... they think it is likely to be the main control unit. Lets see what they do.

I currently have a 318d with all of 54 miles on it - well it had when I collected it. It will sit on the drive until they have my Z4 ready. Oddly I have no interest in increasing the mileage on a 318d. Lovely and smooth though it is ... it is gutless and very new so will be nice to it. Odd index on it though ... X6 OWN. I guess someone traded an X6 for something else so didn't want their index and the dealer have lumped it on something else rather than sell it on.
 
Latest ... sat nav/idrive main screen replaced. Seems ok so far ! Garage (Vines in Guildford) turned it around really quickly after I took it back, which was good.

... but now my n/s window doesn't want to shut properly ... Grrr.
