Sat Nav Issues

Looking for some help or advice on an issue that really annoys me!

My sat-nav is absolutely useless.

It picks up a good few satellites without problem and will display and change the map and co-ordinates while driving but the navigation seems to lose the plot every 2 minutes and tries taking me across fields and rivers! This is not only "new" roads either, its all the time.

I'm running the 2011 map disc and have updated the F/W to one of the most recent.

I know i'm not the only one that suffers this but has anybody got an answer as to how to fix it!?

Sounds like a GPS signal error

What does the symbol on the top right corner look like? it varies depending on signal strength.

Know someone who is good with Nav units on BMW if you need assistance

That's the thing. It's picking up the satellites ok and showing the green satellite logos in the corner of the screen.
 
It may be picking them up, but is it picking them up correctly?

Have you tried going into diagnotics mode on the nav: Goto Set -> Hold menu down for about 8 seconds

You should this be able to see how many satellites its picking up in one of the menus.
I had to replace my antenna for something similar, its a pretty simple job on a coupe - not sure if the antenna is in the same place on pram tops though :poke:

I had another look at it last night and its showing me as being on the road next to the one I'm actually on most of the time!

It's obviously picking up satellites but not very well like you said.

I might buy a new antenna and try that. I've seen them for less than £20 on eBay.

Now to find out where it is on my "pram top"!! :poke:
