Sat Nav completely silent

Help! My navigation system is totally silent!

I've gone into the menu settings. The nav volume is set half about half way. It was suggested that it might be a firmware issue. So, I've just upgraded to V32.2 - that all works great, with perspective view etc..... but still no voice telling me where to go... I know that sounds great to those of you whose sat nav shouts really loudly (!), but I'm finding it really distracting having to look at the screen all the time.

Anyone have any other ideas? Hoping not a BMW recode :(

I've only owned the car for a few weeks, but it's never worked in the time that I've had it.....

Have a look here. Maybe the previous owner wasn't keen on Bossy Helga the satnag and muted her...

Hi - I'm sorry if this is a silly thing to suggest, but you've checked that voice guidance is on - from memory it's the second icon on the left of the map screen.

Good luck :)

Yeah, checked that first. The little speaker icon doesn't have the line through it so it should be switched on. In my other car the sat nav voice is played through a dedicated speaker, apparently. This isn't the case in the zed, is it? Was wondering whether the speaker had become disconnected somehow....

Sad to report that I'm no further forward with this particular problem. Does anyone have any other ideas? Might the navigation itself be faulty? With the stereo volume right up, I can faintly hear what sounds like a very badly tuned radio, if that makes any sense.

I've checked that the nav isn't muted, upgraded the firmware and bought an updated disk. Running out of ideas... :(

Relative volume too low?

Switch off the radio, turn the volume knob up whilst selecting to repeat the last instruction so you know it will talk.

If that fails, check that the two sound wires from the navigation are actually connected to the back of the radio as well.

Weird. The stereo works, right ? Or have you fitted an aux and have your iPhone / ipod plugged in all the time ? There is an auto mute function on the nav / stereo with the Bluetooth unit - I have no idea where I am going here as I don't know how it all works electrically, but could the aux be connected wrongly, or something similar ? Sorry if that's not too helpful, but a line of thought to pursue perhaps...

Aha! I think you may just have found the problem. There is what looks like an aux input on the dash. I haven't bothered with it as I'm waiting to fit a MediaBridge. Wondering whether it has been wrongly connected... it's something to investigate!

Thanks all for the info... I'll keep you posted
