Samsung Galaxy S Bluetooth Problems

I know this is a common subject on here but thought it might be worth a try;

I have sat nav in my Z4MC with teleprep and I have never had problems with pairing and reading the contacts from the phone to the car.

I have just upgraded my mobile to a samsung galaxy s and I'm having problems getting the car (or more likely the phone) in bringing up all the contacts. It pairs fine and you can receive and make calls but the nav screen just reads "Please Wait" and doesnt bring the contacts over...... plus no control of the phone via the menu.

I have done alot of reading up and it seems that the phone might have a problem as its running Android 2.1 and there appears to be some compatibility issues.

I suppose the question is, does anyone else have this phone and have it working successfully? The car is 2007 so it "shouldnt" be a problem with my bluetooth receiver.

Oh yes, and before anyone says the phone isnt on BMW's compatibility list..... I know that. BMW's list probably was last updated in 2001. :headbang:

Thanks in advance.

OK. Finally got this sorted. Don't know why it didn't work the first 20 attempts, but, performed a hard reset on the phone (which didn't involve smashing it against something hard) and re-paired it and now its fine.

Might help someone for future reference. :thumbsup:

Wish I was running Android 2.1, I'm still using 1.6 on mine. Waiting on the 2.2 to become available (reliably) before I change. Don't have Bluetooth in my Z4 so nothing to worry about in that respect...

Its my first android based phone and I must admit its such a fantastic piece of kit. Amazingly customisable and a joy to use. Now my bluetooth seems to be sorted I am a very happy bunny. :thumbsup:

An Android App for you to try out: search the Market for "Autologger". I downloaded the free version last night on the back of some recommendations but yet to try it out. Same idea as the Dynolicious app for iPhones in providing a fun app for, err, performance testing... :evil:

Not sure I'll be subjecting my Z4 to any 0-60 thrashes (I love my car!) but any rolling timings, e.g. 30-70, will be getting tried...

I also have a Galaxy S and it paired fine (contacts and all) both on Android 2.1 and now 2.2. :idunno:

The one big issue i have with mine is that quick call contact list thingy, you know that R/T button on the right spoke of the wheel. When you press that you're supposed to go to a list of all you contacts and you can then scroll through them with the Up and Down buttons right? Only that contact list isnt alphabetised any more and thus impossible to navigate! "Directory" from the "Phone" menu is still alphabetised as usual but that other menu isnt and it's doing my head in as i used it a lot with my previous phone! :headbang:

For what its worth the R/T button has never really worked for me and doesnt call up the entire directory, just a few favorites.

I have to use the menus on the stereo controls to get to the menu, but it shows all mine in alphabetical order. Weird that you are having issues like that.

The R/T list was alphabetised too when paired with my last phone (HTC TytnII) but for some unfathomable reason it's completely random with the Galaxy S. SO ANNOYING!
