I’ve often heard people talking about replacing the “ salmon “ relays on the E89 as a precautionary measure.
Has anyone done this ?

A very significant number on this forum plus many others on other social media groups…

For around £30 and ten minutes work it’s a no brainier offset against what may happen if you don’t…

Take this as a starter:

There's a link to buying them and some tips on fitting them.

Yes just change them, get them from the dealer. I changed mine but left the old ones in a zip-lock bag in the boot just in case.

I understand the reluctance to throw things away but why keep a part deemed beyond service ?

If you are paranoid buy another new one?

No paranoia. I don't live next door a dealership so they're in the boot just in case.

The problem is if they fail it’s not that the roof won’t work it just keeps the pump running until the pump burns out

And of course if pump is running and roof has moved you are locked out of the boot so can't disconnect battery.

Unless you have modded to gain access to boot in any position.
