Safety feature - Automatic door lock?

Hi

put a deposit down in an 03 2.5 yesterday and wondered if all Z4's ir some automatically locked the doors after a certain speed? My A3 will lock you in after 10mph and although I've never really needed it, in the sense of no-one has tried to open my doors in traffic for example, it's nice knowing you have it there.

If they don't come with it, can it be put on? Or do you have to do it yourself using the button by the hanbrake?

Cheers

Tom

I think that option can be activated by your dealer if not already activated, since you have not picked up your car yet you might be able to get them to do it F.O.C

It's a programmable option for the key, rather than the car. In other words one driver can have it operate and the other not so. I hate it my wife prefers it...

I suggest prior to collecting the car the saleman gives you a full print out of the programmable features of both car and keys and you then get them all set before you collect, else it's a chargeable item of £40+ depending upon dealer.

Search on the forum as I've posted a sample print out a few times

ah i see, I'm not buying from BMW though, so not sure the guy would have a clue.

Did try to search but couldnt find te list you mentioned, not sure if anyone has it to hand? Can Autotech do the same job as getting BMW to programme it but cheaper? Are there any Autotechs near Surrey? Their website isnt very explicit about their locations.

Look through the handbook all programmable options are listed in the relevant sections.
However there are some that only an Indy will code as in close roof on the remote button

OK - here's a repost of mine when I had it done soon after purchase. Very similar to yours in age and market and should give you an idea of what's available:

Note how key 2 has lock on drive off and 1 does not.
