Intreresting read, hadn't seen it before but maybe a reee....

this article is wrong- it claims the z was a hard top first- I know the x coupe concept was a hard top but little of that ever ended up in the z!

If I tend to agree with the final two comparaison, but my final decision to purchase the Z4 rested mostly on the styling differences between both cars. I definitely prefer the more classic "roadster" style body of the Z4, and personally felt I would enjoy keeping it longer than I would of kept a Boxster. Since my purchase was intented for long week-end rides, much like my past HD motorcycle, this was the way to go...and I've been smiling every time she's rolled out of my garage!

They're referring to the 350Z, bit the Z4.

Very good article.
From what i know of these cars (i've driven 3 of them, excluding the Porsche), the conclusion seems very honnest to me.
If you want a track car, get the S2K, for it was build like a track car.
If want everything BUT a track car, then get the 350Z.
Then, between the Z4 and the Boxster, well... my personnal taste goes to the Z4 (i guess you can imagine that... :D), but as i said, i've never driven a Boxster yet.

My mate has a 02 Boxster S, in summary its the better drivers car but feels dated compared to the Z.

what do you mean by "feels" dated? you mean interior? handling?

I've driven all 4 cars and the conclusion is quite accurate.

350Z felt too much like a coupe. Not a roadster as I think a roadster should kinda feel like a go kart. Nothing wrong w/ that. It's just that I wanted a go-kart when I was buying a roadster, not a muscle car. Not 350Z coupe vs Z4 Coupe would be a tougher call to make.

S2K is a rush to drive!!! Just didn't have enough torque to please me in city driving. But car is FAST!! Just didn't want to be revving at 4000+ even in city cruising. But when you get into VTEC, it's nuts!!!

Boxter (non-S). A pleasure to drive. Just too pricey for me.

Sorry I meant the interior and the exterior looks are also dating a bit now IMO. My mates is about as good as it gets with the silver tunnel and bits, but still looks alot less modern than my Z.

Another mate had a blue boxster S with grey interior, that seriosuly looked terrible!

Its still a great car to drive, steering is very good, has a loverly flow to it too when hussling it and it sounds fantasic, my mates has the factory sports exhaust at it makes a very nice noise, just right.

The 05 onwards boxster interior is MUCH better though.

I've driven a 350Z too, very different to the Z, handling is more playful, all the controls are very meaty, not as easy pottle along in compared to the Z etc. Very manly car though, noise is pretty good too. Interior ok ish but cheap plastics and the dials are a bit 80's! Great car though, was on my list when looking before getting the Z.

S2000 = worse in every area than a Z4 other than reliabilit/running costs, could post a huge rant about how I don't like them.

Same here. I agree with your post. I liked it but it was the interior and boot space that decided on the Z4 for me.

I am interested in the 370Z over the new Z4 though.

Interior probably. Ive driven an 05 Boxster S and loved it. Great sound/feel. Would defo have one if i didn't have to worry about running costs. Still the Z4 isn't a million miles of in many respects, just costs less to keep on the road.

Of all of them ive never driven a 350z, would really love to try one out.
