RunFlat with Puncture Repair???

Hi Guys,

Is it possible to repair runflat tyres?! When changing my tryes to Falken 452's in July I sold one of the Front Tyres and kept one...

Now I have sold the car I have a spare Bridgestone Potenza Runflat tyre 225/40/R18 with approx 6mm of tread left on!!!

Looking of the outside all looks well, but on the inside it looks like theres a "patch" on it, maybe a repair?! But I'm sure I was told your not allowed to repair RFT's!? What could it be?!

They are repairable, but most places won't do it, essentially because they're told not to. The risk is that if the tyre has been flat and driven on, then the side walls are damaged and may fail dangerously if there is another puncture - of course, I would argue - how is that worse than a standard tyre?

You'll be able to sell it on ebay for some cash anyway.

How's the Golf?
 
It is because the remaining strength of the sidewall is not known after the first puncture. Theoretically, RFT can be safely repaired if the hole is not on the sidewall of the tyre. But if the tyre has second puncture after repair, the tyre may not last very long until it can be replaced.

Hmm...

I'll put it on ebay then ;)

Need to have another look and see what the puncture looks like, like I said the outside of the tyre doesnt look like its been punctured, but there is deffo a patch on the inside! Doesnt look anything like the "plug" used to repair conventional tyres...

The Golf is great...cant wait to finish modding it :)
 
pu them on ebay, but personally I wouldnt touch them with a barge pole as the history is unknown.

Would think the plug would be the same as a non RFT just a flat patch from the inside, if they have been used since the outside probably wont be visible if it's not in the tread.
