Not a good Z'd day today. Whilst out for a drive my Runflat indicator bleeped.

A check of the pressures indicate all is fine. This is the second time this has happened. The first time I reset the indicator whilst the car was moving rather thasn the ignition on - drive sequence. Could it be because of this ?

Thanks

Ian

What year is your car? As I understand it, the runflat indicater was changed for the '07 year to an actual pressure sensor. Prior to '07, they system looked for a difference in rotation speed for one tire vs. another. In the former case, if your pressure is OK, then you may have a bad sensor. In the latter case, check to make certain that the pressure is within spec and just reset the indicator to recalibrate the system.

I would check your tire pressure carefully over a period of time, you may have a slow leak.

I feel sorry for you. My stepmother has a 5series estate and the runflat light ALWAYS comes on even when there is no problems. She has had it at the garage countless times but the problem just keeps coming back

The odd thing is the Reset doesn't work like the manual says.

If I put the ignition on then push the Runflat reset until the yellow light comes on.
Then start the car and drive off, the light goes off almost staright away, not the several minutes as the manual says.

As I said the garage I checked the tyres at yesterday didn't have a gauge showing actual pressure. So checked this morning and the front tyres were at 20 psi :x

So I have set them correctly and checked with a gauge to ensure they are at 33 & 36 psi

Under "spirited" driving conditions the indicator may come on. After I had this happen to me, I read the owners manual and it's noted there. I'm not enamored with the RF tires or the indicator technology at this point. I may purchase stem pressure indicators so I can quickly see whether the pressure is correct, if the indicator light comes on. Either that or quit driving in a spirited fashion.
