RTTI

When I go on BMW ConnectedDrive I see that my RTTI is 'booked', which I take to mean it is active. But I dont see the red/yellow/green road colouration to indicate the level of congestion which I used to see when I last had RTTI.

I've raised this with BMW but not had any response. Does anyone know where I'm going wrong? I don't see anything in 'settings' to allow me to switch on the colour coding.

If you want to see the colour coding on our nav system, you have to select the 'Grey Map' option in the options. Alternatively, on the 'non-grey map' version, you just see the arrows next to the roads. My understanding is that the RTTI thing is just a faster data service compared to the previous TMC which is broadcast over the radio waves (Classic FM if I recall correctly).

I've not tried this, so will take a look tomorrow. I do see arrows currently, although have no idea what they mean.

WTF are RTTI & TMS?

HTH!

RTTI is useless on Z4 and I will not be renewing it. Driven me straight into hold-ups many times where I could have rerouted round had I known earlier.

Works much better on my 535.

 yep, works fine in grey mode. Why don't BMW tell you this? Neither the manual or the Connected Drive website say this.

These both relate to the built-in sat nav, if you have it. TMC is traffic message channel, and uses information passed via radio channels to inform the sat nav about delays, etc. It's ok, but not nearly as good as RTTI (real time traffic information), which colours roads green amber or red according to their congestion status, and provides a more reliable 'alternative route' process.
