Rough idle disappears mid drive

Hi I have a 2004 BMW Z4 3.0i with 61000 miles. As long as I’ve had the car it has had a fuel bank 2 error code 2883 code and a rough idle. Recently I replaced a burnt O2 sensor and got a new battery and until yesterday the car was driving perfectly fine however still giving me the 2883 code but also getting new a cylinder 3 and 5 misfire codes every 30 ish miles.

Today I drove the car perfectly for an hour, then came back 30 min later and as soon as I started the car the rough idle was back and it felt as though the engine and exhaust had a rattle when I pressed on the pedal. I tried pressing hard on the pedal and it took it a while to kick in and the power felt weak. However a couple minutes later, i stopped at a stop light and noticed the rough idle was suddenly gone, the exhaust/ engine didn’t have a rattle and the car wasn’t shaking. I booted up my sensor and here is the data I saw below: There is a 2B020220 code for the instrument cluster and my mechanic suspects an electrical issue + airbag has a 93E7 undervoltage code.

I looked at the O2 fuel mixture system and the signal before cat on both banks was alternating between 0.10 and 0.80. Signal for bank 1 after cat was 0.08 average but for bank 2 it was still 0.69 on average. The adaptation mixture for bank 1 was -0.28 and for bank 2 was 0.91? is this supposed to be normal? Can someone please help? Is my cat clogged? My mechanic used the steam machine multiple times on the engine and found no leaks.

Yes the bank 1 Cat may be getting blocked.
- Post-cat O2's should be above 0.5V
- Total fuel trims go negative (rich) when the cat is blocked

Get the cats tested with a back pressure test to confirm a blocked cat before going to the expense of replacing them/it

Huh ok yea I’ll look into it. Would it possibly cause the misfires and bank 2 issues or is that probably a different problem

Possibly a different problem.
- You've had the engine smoke tested multiple times- no leaks
- Pre-cat O2's are working correctly
- Maybe a dodgy MAF?? Check the MAF value with a hot engine at idle. Should be around 3.9 g/s for your 3.0L engine.
