Got the fairly common problem where the car thinks the read cover is in the up position when it cleary isnt.

Done a search on here but cannot see much info on a DIY fix

I have raised and lowered it a few times but no joy, anything else to try, or send it to the dealers. My only concern is the Reinhold modules, but I am guessing there diags will point them straight to the rear cover anyway.

I seem to remember this can be caused by a faulty microswitch, will need to search to find out as I cant remember who had the fault

Just thought I would go and see if there was anything obvious, so looked in the boot all clear, found microswitch at bottom of guide, in correct position and clicks in and out, then looked again and realised the shelf was up and not down.

How stupid, don't answer that PVR.

At least you realised before taking it to the dealer :P

yes that wouldnt have been good, going there on Monday to have my whhels looked at so had thought I could get it looked at then, but can you imagine the response when they would have found the problem.

"yes sir we have found the problem, the idiot behind the steering wheel"

Had this happen last Autumn :) BMW assist had been out to look at a fault and had disconnected the battery and in doing had turned the hood flaps up but hadn't turned them back when they finished with the car! Was about to go to the dealer when it suddenly dawned on me what the problem was!
