Roof & Windows Mechanism Fault!?

Hi all, bit of a panic today - hoping someone may be able to shed some light if possible...! :(

Roof went down fine in the lovely sunshine today.
Driving around roof & windows down - notice the red light between the roof up/down buttons is blinking... :o

Pull over and test:

  • Up button - Roof comes up and windows close no problem - everything as normal
  • Down button - Roof goes down all the way, but motor continues to whirr if the button is held down - it doesn't stop whirring (until let go) and the windows won't come back up.....! Red light blinking
  • Up button - Roof comes back up and windows close no problem - lights all as normal

Has anyone else had this problem?
Any thoughts?
Window reset?
Roof open/closed sensor??

Thanks in advance,
Si

for some reason or other the roof isn't completing the down cycle hence windows not going up etc.

Check the shelf is fully down in the boot, also try and give the roof some gentle assistance to see if it completes the cycle. Some lubrication may help as it could be the pivot points are tight having not been used over winter.

Cheers srhutch.
Roof has been working fine with no tightness or seizing - car was serviced just when bought it one month ago.
I realised today that this might have been caused by me *stupidly* dumping the wind deflector into the 'parcel shelf'/roof carrier bit and then forgetting - essentially it was in the 'box' when I lowered the roof...

Could this have had an effect??

Had a play around just now - the roof seems to complete its closing process fine - it's as if though that the signal that says 'ok, roof done, stop motor and get windows back up' isn't kicking in.

Curiously, the windows were acting weird this evening - when lowering the driver, then lowering passenger, the driver would come back up.

Maybe I need to re-set the windows??

Thanks,
Si
