roof sensor? yellow light when trying to put roof down

hi guys....hope you are well.

i put my mums suitcase in the boot earlier today, it was a tight fit....

now the roof wont open (i have taken the suitcase out...). i just get a little yellow light on the roof closing button.

i have moved the roof cage in the boot up and down a few times, it seems fine, but to no avail...still my little yellow friend is there.

theres obviously a sensor there somewhere....where should i check or is there another reason for this...???

cheers
kev

Hi Kev,

Mum style suitcases are generally large (or small but over packed  ), tight fitting ones in a Z4 with the roof down though....is that wise m8?

Sensor I think is telling you there is still an obstruction but being as the roof was down first (?), long as the cage is 'locked' and there's nothing else in the boot then it should operate. Try the manual roof release and then try the button, check the owners manual for correct manual peration first, dont want to be responsible for any damage but you should be OK.

thanks for the response....

yup, it had a strap round it to keep everything in.....

just a point though, the roof was up during the time the case was in ther car.

i didnt know there was a manual release...i shall check the manual

Sorry Kev, my mistake, just you mentioned "roof will not close", thought you meant it was down or open. Not sure about the manual release then if it's already up, must be something to do with the cage or what's behind it. The manual should cover it off though...

actually, my misatke, yeah i did say roof wont close which would mean it was open. oops, sorry!

have edited that now.

right, so back to it....

so maybe i have knackered the cage sensor?

anybody know about this?

There is a micro-switch somewhere that senses the divider position - do a search, I think shipkiller had a similar problem...
