roof sensor part number

Hi, I have a 2008 2.0 sport. having problems with my roof operation, decided to try the sensor first as I can hear the motor working like a good un, but the roof wont come up. goes down fine but I have to pull the red handle in the boot to get it up. red light on roof opening switch flashing, but the parcel shelf if fully down. fingers crossed its the sensor, has anyone got the part number as I cant find it, thanks to all previous posts on this forum for getting me this far.
 
If you mean the parcel shelf sensor then it won't be that as it would just have a solid orange light come up on the button and the motor wouldn't spin at all, and it wouldn't go down. Does the motor spin going up but just doesn't engage or is there no sound at all?

Sounds like you've got a problem with either the red cable not being seated properly or roof motor on the way out, dont waste money on the sensor though.
 
thanks for that Andy, when i try to put the roof up the windows come down and i can hear the motor, but it stops and the switch light flashes, to be honest i accused my son of messing with red pull handle as it wasnt seated properly when i started looking into the problem, however. it is now and it still wont close.
 
Ok, not sure I can be much help with that, if it's 100% seated correctly (the cable) not sure what that could be, sorry can't be more help :( I hasten to say it could be the motor gone but it wouldn't be uncommon
 
If the motor works for a short time and then stops, then it is most probably the motor dying. When opening, you say that it works fine, what sound does the motor make? Does it sound slower than before, is it louder? or does it sound normal?
Also, does the roof lock down properly when opening and does the consul light go out?

There is something you could try, when the motor is running temporarily in the close mode, pull the boden ring in and out. It could be that the boden valve is starting to seize. If the roof closes or lurches forward then that is the problem.

If this has no effect, then the chances are the motor is on its way out.

thats the thing, the motor sounds good, unlocks and folds down fine, but wont releise from the open possition so the motor stops, when i pull the red emergensy lever it closes to by hand, then locks shut by the button.
 
Aah, try with the roof open, unlocking it by means of the big button at the top of the rear consul so it is not locked down then try to power it closed. It doesn't sound like your motor has any problems. The problem i think lies in the down locking/releasing part.

When the roof has done its opening cycle do your windows close and the light goes out or does it flash?
 
I am having the same exact issue. Tug, what do you mean when you say "The problem i think lies in the down locking/releasing part."?
 
yes, my roof motor has gone, ive been opening it manually most of the summer, tug was very helpful but unfortunately for me it wasn't a easy fix.
