Roof rubbing against seat roll bars!

How did this pass BMW quality control?? The cloth roof is so close to the roll bars when closed, that it constantly produces this rustling sound by rubbing on them while driving. This occurs on both sides.

If I stick my hand between the cloth and the roll bar and gently push up the roof a bit, the clearance between them stops the rustling.

Anyone else having this? How could they miss this during the design??

Sounds like a manufacturing flaw. I've never heard of this. Don't know how that made it past quality control though.

drzed, mine is touching too, but just barely - no noise comes from it but it is a tight fit. I agree they could have added a 1/4" more clearance in that area, would've prevented a lot of problems.

Mine used to touch, but I don't think it made any noise though, unless I couldn't hear it over the dash rattles :P

But even though it touched, there was never any sign of wear or anything on the inside of the roof, which is what I was worried about.

X2 Mike, no wear here either. But I do keep a watchful eye over it.
