Roof problem :(

I'm in Norfolk and its not good news in this corner of the UK :thumbsdown:
I'd get one of the members who do roof motors to relocate and revive it - start planning a day out with a visit to one of them at the same time (lots of threads listing who and where); or go and visit relations for a day or so and make the relocation part of the trip. Move takes about 30mins and cost less than an average night out.
I had mine done as part of a group event near Cambridge last year where Mike (DLV) traveled to us. There has been a Norwich/Norfolk group posting over the last month or so - check in roof motor threads or look at the Zedfest threads I think one of the roof guys moved motors there.

A member posted a price of £500 for a new motor from BMW - don't think this included the workshop time 
Members can move/remove/revive without disconnecting the roof from the body (unlike BMW) so are much quicker I don't know what their costs are but last year a straight move to the boot with a section of matching carpet (to enclose the motor in the left rear boot recess) was around £80 -£100. If its dead and needs reviving in a bucket of diesel or new hydraulic hoses it will be more but shed loads less than BMW will demand.

Yes I was quoted £500 for the motor. They also told me that when they get this repair in the workshop they charge for some cables and a new foam motor holder. Total cost WITHOUT LABOUR £778. Didn't bother to ask about labour costs as they seem to need to take the roof off. Must be looking at about £400 labour.
