Roof not opening, yet the pump is working

I left my car for two weeks at my mechanic.
Among different things he was fixing, he uninstalled the roof shelf to have the access to the coilovers.
And now the roof is not opening. But!

- the switch correctly works with the shelf
- the red loop for manual opening is in the right position
- the LED near the roof button is red (not orange)
- the roof unlatches properly
- the pump is working

Yet the roof is not moving.
It's not even making a weak effort to work.

Maybe there is a problem with the oil in the pump (I didn't check it yet, I really hate tight spaces...)

What else can I check?

Is there a chance he pulled the red handle?
Could have got the bypass plunger stuck in even with the handle reset.
Whatever the answer I think you need to get the motor out into the boot to check.

I think it's the plunger. Can you send me w picture how to spot the correct position on the pump? I managed to take it out (the hydraulic fluid is there, good).
I see that something is moving when I pull the cord.
Yet I'm not sure how it should look like.

Good start!
Unscrew the black plastic piece on the pump that holds the lever from the cable.
Underneath you will see a small brass plunger with a 5mm hex head on it. That should move in a couple of mm when you push it, then pop back out when you let go.
It may be stuck in. A squirt of WD40 and twisting it with a socket should free it up.
If it really won't budge then on the opposite side is a blank. You can remove that and use a thin screwdriver or parallel pin punch to push the plunger back out. (Be careful as you will spill a little fluid doing that).
Once sorted, install the motor in the corner of the boot. Top up the reservoir until it spills over, using hydraulic jack oil. You will still have a small air gap in the top so no concerns about hydraulic locks.

Yep!
It was exactly as you said.
WD40 and a bit of tapping solved the issue.
I also used this opportunity to roughly relocate the pump to the boot area.
