Roof Motor

Hi Guys,


I recently bought a Z4 in Dublin and brought it back with me to Sweden, where I'm living. All was great. the roof worked fine, no problems. I get it back to Sweden and the roof stops :(

Its definitely the motor and the release pin in the boot seems to be corroded to the motor.

My question is ; where is the best online store to get the motor? and I read somewhere else that there is a way to get the release cable free from the motor?

Any suggestions welcomed

Hi Niallc,

Do a search on roof motor relocation and you’ll find several threads on relocating and restoring corroded motors back to life. Most often this can even be done without removing the roof.

I looked at some alright, the car is 14 years old now so its probably not worth resurrecting . I will definitely get the new motor installed in the boot though :)
 
Just because the car is 14 years old, doesn't mean the roof motor is that old. It could be quite new. Pity you are not planing a a UK trip as there are plenty of guys here who could refresh your roof workings.
 
It’s crazy money over here in sweden to get any work done. There doesn’t seem to be any ex bmw staff or mechanics that specialize here. Only main dealers and they are looking for around 1200 sterling to replace the motor. They don’t even want to open it and check it
