Roof motor reallocation HELP

Hi Everyone,

After watching too many DYI videos, I somehow convinced myself to have a go at moving the motor myself to the boot.

After several attempts and injuries, I managed to place the actual motor on the boot but the cables are still being held by the plastic strap. I cannot for the life of me manage to break that plastic cable tie to finish the job. Could anyone tell me of any garages in Kent (hopefully near Maidstone) that could help me with this?

Thank you very much,

Rod

Hello,
No one on the forum near you as far as i know.
Get on to fb and search for Simon Liggins. He has a workshop in Kent somewhere.

I'd give you a hand if I wasn't away this weekend as Maidstone is very near.

I used wire clippers on mine.. just have to feel very carefully that you are clipping the correct bit. :P

Sounds like you still have the plastic motor tub still in the space it lives in, the hydraulic pipes run underneath this in grooves on the base, electric cables also being held in by the tub if its still there. If your lucky and it hasn't been got at before there should be one nylon tiewrap holding the tub in place through a flap on the tubs side, break that and it should lift out and back into the boot bringing the pipes and cables with it. Its a matter of feeling for that tie wrap to cut it or the flap and cut that so the cable tie pulls free from it. The picture shows mine with the split on the slot where the tiewrap was holding it in.

But be aware that if it hasn't been touched before then there will also be a small screw going through that plastic slot and into the base of the ram. So you need to lever it up hard enough to break the plastic.
